The smartstart cd provides with Windows and Novell boot options only. For linux it asks for creating the floppy Diskette and using linux dd . The Smartstart cd includes the Linux driver but not for the linux bootable.

Hi

I do not see any option to install the OS with out a floppy drive

The Linux install requires driver for smart array controller which is available in the hp site. Please read the note on the hp site where the driver is found and use the same kernel version to install linux. Driver floppy creation details are in the same place where you download the driver.

The floppy needs to be created and will need to be supplied during install.

Rgds

HGN

Hi

One suggestion:
- make a floppy dd image;
- copy the image on the 1st cdrom or in an nfs share (see https://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/x8664-multi-install-guide/s1-steps-network-installs.html#S2-STEPS-NETWORK-INSTALL-ISO)

- at the boot prompt type :"linux dd updated"
- during installation switch to the 3rd virtual console
- mount the dd image as floppy disk
- go back to installation

good luck

The cciss driver that comes wth AS3.0 works fine, no need to install the HP specific driver..

On our installations - the RH installed correctly determined the type of controller we had from the RH installer. Didn't need the disks or CDs for RH3.x Enterprise/AS installs.

Prateek,

I had exactly the same problem. You need to download the latest REDHAT AS 3.0 ISOs - Update 4. These contain an updated CCISS driver which knows about the 6i card and then all is easy.

Hope this helps

Caspar
