    <description>The JDK downloads are usually in a self-executing 'shar' format.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You need to 'execute' the .bin file, which will extract the RPM's for you.</description>

      <description>I have donwnloaded de JDK 1.4.2 from sun website for Linux. But the downloaded file has '.bin' extension and RPM cannot install it on RH EL 3.0.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;[root@ita1 oracle]# rpm -i j2re-1_4_2_06-linux-i586.rpm&lt;BR /&gt;j2re-1_4_2_06-linux-i586.rpm: not an rpm package (or package manifest): &lt;BR /&gt;[root@ita1 oracle]# rpm -i j2re-1_4_2_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin&lt;BR /&gt;j2re-1_4_2_06-linux-i586-rpm.bin: not an rpm package (or package manifest): &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Any idea?</description>
