      <title>RED HAT as 2.1 ftp</title>

      <description>I am trying to set up FTP on red hat as 2.1,&lt;BR /&gt;But when i try to install the RPM it tells me that it is already installed, its not.&lt;BR /&gt;i have then tried to remove it to reinstall but it tells me that it is not installed ?.&lt;BR /&gt;i have tried to reinstall using the --force option and the replacepkgs option and all seems to go as planned but it still does not set up ftp.&lt;BR /&gt;now a little lost as to what to try next, maybe see if there is another rpm to install, i checked the red hat web site to no avail.&lt;BR /&gt;has anyone seen this before and if so HELP!.&lt;BR /&gt;regards&lt;BR /&gt;       Andrew</description>

      <description>It does.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It must be intalled as a legacy server service.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Once installed:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cd /etc/xinetd.d&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;vi the ftp entry&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;change diable=yes&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;to &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;disable=no&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;save&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;service xinetd restart&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ftp and all its security holes enabled.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>Hi&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For ftp you need to install wu-ftpd&lt;BR /&gt;do a &lt;BR /&gt;rpm -q wu-ftpd to check if it is installed&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Once you install it enable the ftp &lt;BR /&gt;Rgds&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;HGN</description>

      <description>hi!&lt;BR /&gt; to install ftp in redhat. i recommend you install vsftp for your ftp service ! &lt;BR /&gt; originally redhat include vsftp rpm in it!&lt;BR /&gt; if u have default install as2 or as3, the vsftpd already in it!&lt;BR /&gt; you can try :(command under)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#chkconfig --list | grep vsftpd&lt;BR /&gt; if u see its status is off!&lt;BR /&gt;  u can open it!&lt;BR /&gt;#chkconfig vsftpd on&lt;BR /&gt;#service vsftpd start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;after that! ftp daemon will be available</description>
