UPS Lansafe3 console Message time out

Hi
I'm tried running the lansafe3 console program but I always get a timed out message

# ./ls3con

Please enter the Access Code for the Power Monitor.

Accessing Power Monitor
.......................................
Message timed out!
........................................
Message timed out!
The LanSafe III Power Monitor (ls3) is not running.
Run the daemon by typing ./ls3&

The ls3 daemon is running

#ps -ef | grep ls3
root 8408 1 0 11:58 pts/2 00:00:00 /opt/ls3/ls3
root 8418 8270 0 12:04 pts/2 00:00:00 grep ls3

What could be wrong?
Note..
1. I am running Red Hat Enterprise 2.1
2. I have tested the serial cable on another HPUX server running ls3. The cable is OK
3. Could it be a serial port setting??
