Hi.

We have a customer with RHAS3.0 U3
kernel upgraded to 2.4.21-27 ( after swaping problems). Oracle 10g.

The problem is that we saw twich this week that telnet & ssh cannot login anymore. Only
reboot solve the problem. ( we get the login & password but then its no longer keep login into the system.)

Oracle ( port 1521 work fine) & ftp work fine
too.( when the error occured.)

Any Ideas????

I am attaching the ps + netstat + messages.

Your issue is lack of memory.

The swap problem was caused by not enough physical memory, most likely.

If there is enough memory there is a performance bug in 10g that requires a patch be installed.

Back to the swap problem, if it was not 10G causing the issue upgrading the kernel was probably not a great response.

Adding swap space might help in the short run, but since 10G is a big memory hog, better to upgrade the memory.

Thanks for your reply.

Before we upgrade the kernel ,the system start swap out after 5 min. ( we add memory from 8 gig to 14 gig) and yet we got the swaping problem.
After we upgrade the kernel - no more swaping at all!!!!

the hang occured with both kernels.

I feel when telnet hangs you should try getting into the machine using console, and check the memory status, what does the messages file say??
