Here is a thread that will cut down on spam.

Unfortuneately its not possible to validate incoming email addresses. It is possible to cut spam significantly by doing the sendmail reverse lookup hack.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=450771

110 until the Linux Pyramids....

SEP

All,
I am getting this type of email:
From: Cruz.Rosario@mail.abc.com
Reply-To: hqwv@hd4info.com@mail.abc.com
To: someone@abc.com

The from and Reply to field user does not exist. Is there a way to Tell our mail server to not accept the mail if the from field is not a valid user. As you can see someone is trying to forge a user from our domain. Thanks.

Not sure if this has what you are looking for, but check out the "Fight Spam" link at http://www.linuxhomenetworking.com/linux-hn/sendmail.htm#_Toc92809430
as it discusses some ways of using public blacklists with sendmail to nix spam.

Have you tried playing around with spamassassin? I've heard lots of good things about it.
