I would assume this is a recent vintage Dell server with a newer model Perc RAID controller (probably one of the 4/ series).

If this is the case, you need to grab the RH drivers from the Dell website (start from http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd I guess).

The Perc drivers (also known as 'megaraid' drivers) drive the rebadged LSILogic (previously AMI) series of RAID controllers (similar to the NetRAID series of HP controllers).

I doubt however that you'll find one for RedHat 9.

I have yet to run into a Dell Poweredge server that could not run Linux.

Most are fully supported by Recent Linux Distributions.

SEP

I agree. If you insist on using a non-enterprise, I'd suggest one of the Fedora Core's (3), as they have an up-to-date driver set.

most of the recent machine are shipped with SATA HDD, this is not recognised with redhat 8,9 etc .. possible use redhat WS 3,else look for the drivers.

I wasn't aware that any of the main-stream server ranges of either HP or DELL came by default with SATA drives.

Workstations, yea sure.. But none of the server ranges.

Hi Fadia Almarei ,

Did you use PERC 4e/di raid controller? DELL did not provide PERC 4e/di driver for RH9. You can select other raid controller or compile driver by yourself.

NiCK
