On a d330 machine, I have Windows XP installed on IDE0(NTFS) and a storage only drive installed on IDE1(NTFS).

On the second controller I have a DVDReader/CDWriter (IDE3) and an IDE disk on IDE4 on which I wish to Linux.

There appears to be no way that any device other than IDE0 can be selected as the boot device.

How do I specify IDE4 as the boot Disk

You can toggle the boot flag using the fdisk command. Careful, this could be trouble. Make sure you have a bootable floppy/CDROM (or some bootable media) available just in case.

Hi,
The way you boot off the IDE4 is using the bios you can specify to use IDE4 as the bootdisk, but make sure that device is boottable, by setting boot flag on fdisk
