Question:
We are running a virtual partition of SUSE Linux on a mainframe, the mainframe admin assigned/defined a 3rd CPU to this partition. It is seem by the Linux partition but it is in a stopped state. How do I switch it on for use by the Linux partition, what is the command syntax.

Thanks,

Randy

Assuming the MainFrame makes the CPU available to the 'BIOS' that Linux see's, then it should be available to Linux as soon as you start using an SMP kernel.

I'm unsure wether SuSE is distributed with an SMP kernel out of the box, or whether you need to recompile with SMP enabled however.

Beyond that, there shouldn't be anything that you need to do from the OS end.
