some win always down in accessing samba while others working well

some of my windows always down when browsing in samba sharing folders, while the others windows is browsing normally, especially the win98-me series.

could anyone remind threads to me.

Hi,
Try chaging this line to No in smb.conf
encrypted passwords = No
restart samba service and try again accessing the shares from all the machines.

Could you give us some error messages to go on? Also you may find something useful in /var/log/samba/.

Some versions of Windows, notably NT 4.0 SP3 and later and Windows 2000 insist on using an encrypted handshake when authenticating samba resources. This works fine for NT server, but older versions of Samba did not allow encryption. When running an older version, you had to edit the registry to enable your NT boxes to allow for plaintext passwords to be sent during authentication. This shouldn't be an issue with the current version of Samba as it now supports encrypted authentication.
