Debian is a bit of an odd beast. Generally, you'll need the first 2-3 binary disks. Beyond that, it really depends on what you want to run.

Unfortuantely, I've never been able to find a manifest of what's on each disk, but *shrug*.

I've not run Debian on HP-PA before, only Intel, and I got away with the first 3 disks. I suggest getting the first 3-4, and then use 'apt get' from there.

You will need from 2-4 GB of space to fully install all options. I know of no limit on disk that you can attach other than what the hardware will support.

You didn't provide any hardware data, so thats a tough question to answer.

SEP

You absolutely have enough disk space for a Linux installation, assuming there is not some esoteric requirement that you have more than one disk in the box.

Good luck, and report back how this project goes. Inquiring minds want to know.

SEP

I'd start with the first one and see how far I get. (that's what I'm gonna doo). I expect the first disk suits a need for booting and minimal installation. Once this is working, I'd use network-based install (see Debian documentation on internet) and automatically download and install only needed packages. I have reason to believe all disks are way to much.

even better: get the 'netinst' version to do the net installation.
