Drivers for Smart array 6i controllers are available from RedHat 3 Update 4 onwards.

I have installed RedHat 3 Update 4 and Update 5 (which is the latest) on machine with 6i controller and it worked fine. Check for the updates for RedHat 3.

Hope this helps,
Gopi

Hi,
Cannot install Linux Redhat A.S3 on disk attached to Smart Array 6I controler on a HP DL380 G4 (NO DEVICE FOUND). Drivers created with the CD SmartStart V7.10 are not good. The system works very well under Windows.
Thanks for help

RedHat AS 3 does not have kernel support for the 6i controller. I had this same problem and
the quickest solution I had was to use another Linux distro. Any of the Fedora Core releases and Debian 3 support this card out of box. That's the best I have for now!
