      <description>/dev/shm stands for Shared Memory. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You need to have kernel tmpfs support in order to use POSIX shared memory. System V shared memory will work without tmpfs in your kernel, however. Note that you do not need a tmpfs filesystem to be mounted for POSIX shared memory to work; you simply need the support in your kernel.
