Hello,

Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES release 3 (Taroon Update 4)

I have used the lvextend command to add 500MB to a logical volume that was at 100%.

I unmounted the the lv and ran:
resize2fs /dev/vg00/usr_local

I then remounted the file system and now I show a little under 30% free:
df .
Filesystem 1K-blocks Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/vg00/usr_local 1519896 1010936 432160 71% /usr/local

The problem is when I try and copy a file to a directory under this lv I get the following error:

cp: writing `test': No space left on device

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Thanks,

T.J.

You have extended the logical volume.

Have you extended the filesystem? (extendfs).

SEP

I thought the resize2fs command would have taken care of that. Also, extendfs is not a valid command on this system.

Only 1%, 286 innodes.

What was the response code to the resize command?

Any non-zero response means it failed.

You may need to umount and mount the filesystem to get the space recognized. Booting the system would accomplish the same thing.

SEP

I have already unmounted then remounted the file system. The space is showing as availible when a df is done but when i try to copy a file to it that is when it says it is full. There where no errors when running the resize2fs command.

Is the file system mounted as RO?

Can you edit any file in that filesystem?

Do touch <SOME_FILE> to see if you can create a new file.

Try copy a file from that filesystem to itself.</SOME_FILE>
