Hi, i have a new pavilion dv 4000 (product # = EH724EA#ABZ S.N. = 2CE5271055). I correctly installed SUSE 9.3, all ok in installation step ( touch mouse works.. GUI works ...) but when i try to start linux in graphic mode the monitor don't show nothing! It works only in text mode. The I915GM graphic board is compatible? Problem with mouse? who can help me? thanks!
I am not sure whether SUSE 9.3 supports the intel 915 chipset. Let us check other things now: Have you skipped the X configuration during installation? if so enable it now by running 'SaX2' from the command prompt.

This SUSE utility will check the video hardware and tries to setup the GUI.

Also if you had choosen not to have GUI by default (i.e during every boot) then there is a good chance that 'xfs' service is not running when you try to start the GUI (by typing 'startx'). Start the xfs service by '/etc/init.d/xfs start' and try running 'startx' and see whether that works.

Regards,
Gopi
