keyboard hanging in linux GUI login screen

hai,
i have a system runnig with RHEL WS 3.0. During installaion i used PS /2 mouse and it was working. Later i tried with usb mouse after which kbd hangs at GUI login screen.then i tried iwth the ps/2 muoseand found working fine.what could be the problem.

Try running redhat-config-mouse and redhat-config-keyboard and select the right one.

I had a similar problem and it was solved (a workaround) by stopping the gpm service (console mouse service):

service gpm stop
chkconfig gpm off

You need to configure USB mouse and keyboard. Without that, it wont recognize.
