    <description>customer states DL585 has 16G of memory but os only see's 4 unless using bigmem kernel.&lt;BR /&gt;he heard there might be a bios issue. also states that bigmem kernel has performance issues. he would rather use regular kernel if possible.</description>

      <description>Shalom stephen,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Actually a 32 bit machine is limited to addressing 2 GB of memory at one time.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The bigmem kernel allows you to address more memory and should improve performance, especially for heavy hitting applications like oracle.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I've not seen performance issues while using that kernel on RH 4.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>Try specifying at boot time the memory that you have, like:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mem=16384&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;You should use red hat provided kernel, it has major changes that makes the performance better comparing to the standart kernel.</description>
