Greetings,

I am having some trouble in installing and configuring Oracle RAC 10gR2 under RHEL 4.0 U2 AS…

Despite my server has only 2 CPUs, I have installed RHEL 4.0 AS, because this will be the final production environment.

As far as I know:
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux ES supports up to 2 CPUs / 16 GB RAM
* Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS has no limits for CPU and RAM.

However there should be no differences in the Linux kernel. It's just a question of support.

Any help/suggestion is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Kind Regards,

Rui.

You're almost right - RHEL ES and AS are the same technically.
Why almost? - of course, RHEL AS has CPU/memory limits, but there are "real" linux kernel limits, not just "marketing/support" limits, as for ES.

Can you explain us which troubles do you have?
hi Rui,

I've found Oracle installations peculiar in one manner that you have to follow exact procedure step by step, you missed one step, you lost! so, as other friends suggested, go to puschitz.com or oracle installation guide site, and follow the steps there. I've wasted my whole a day only because I forgot to set permissions on directories as 775, instead I made it 755, and then ......
