There is a lots there but you will find what you need on make clean ... etc in better way then I could posibly hope to do here

May I ask you *why* do you want to compile kernel? Linux kernel is very customizable and you can a lot of things without recompilation.

Using self-made kernel will prevent you from getting support from Linux vendor (RH, for example).

thanks for the document provided, i was searching for how to compile the kernel. bcoz my problem is that My 2.1 As machine is not taking AMD display driver. I found this document very useful and thanks for a lot.
