The "/etc/cevtdl.conf" file is used to instruct the cevtd daemon how to log the hpasm messages. Please make sure thath this file exists and is not empty.

I understand from the man page for the hpasm RPM that IML messages are supposed to be replicated in the OS's syslog if you have the package installed:

"Most errors which are logged to the NVRAM based Integrated Management
Log (IML) are also logged to the standard "messages" file (i.e.
/var/log/messages)."

But this doesn't seem to be happening. I have the syslog.conf setup to capture all messages "*.* /var/log/messages" and I'm feeding the IML messages using the hplog command. Has anyone had any experience of this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks for the quick response but this file and the daemon don't seem to exist in the latest version of hpasm (7.4.0-56) available for HP DL380 G4s. I've tried installing an older version of hpasm (7.0.0-23) which does have the daemon and the file you mentioned but doesn't work too well with this version of Redhat (Advanced Server 3). I'm getting issues with the kernel version.

Do you have any further advise?
