    <description>Sound problem with FC5, sound card is sigmatel hda. Kernel version 2.6.17. I can hear sound when I plug my headphone jack in, but not through speaker. Any idea? Thanks.</description>

      <description>Oh,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;It's a laptop.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For goodness sake, don't open it.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Contact Dell support and work the problem through with them. You may find the machine does not support Linux.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I think however the diagnostic CD/DVD that came with the system should be used to boot it and run tests on the sound system. Dell will probably ask you to do that anyway.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;If you have to contact Dell concerning a software issue contact their Linux department. The regular techs are quite clueless with Linux.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
