What Linux distribution/version are you using?

Normally "vgscan" is executed in a very early phase of a server reboot. If some disk controller does not yet have its driver loaded at that point, the volume group(s) on that controller won't appear automatically.

One way to avoid this is to customize the reboot sequence so that vgscan is run a second time after all the necessary storage drivers are loaded.

The other way is to ensure that the storage drivers get loaded early enough, so that the standard vgscan can handle them. This may require including the drivers in the initrd image, if your distribution uses one to boot.

Shalom Cliff,

The /boot paritition can not be in LVM, but since your system boots that is not the issue.

vg01 is not set to autoactivate.

Check /etc/lvm/lvm.conf

Also /etc/grub.conf

SEP
