topic Hyperterminal DL320 G3 in Operating System - Linux

I'm connecting to a Linux box through hyperterminal (COM1). I'm running a Proliant DL320 with Windows XP Pro. The computers communicate fine until I type the vi command into hyperterminal and send it to the linux box. Then the serial port stops responding. I tested this theory on 5 different DL320s and got the exact same result. I tried a Toshiba laptop and it continued working fine. I need help finding the solution to this problem.

Hi,

Looks like a TERM configuration issue. Once connected, before launching "vi", try setting the TERM variable to ansi or vt100 :

export TERM=vt100
vi

or

export TERM=ansi
vi

Good lcuk.
Kodjo
