I am pretty new to linux platform, Can someone help me with the document to setup a two node cluster for RH linux in itanium platform. I will be using RedHat Cluster suite for an Oracle DB in RAC. Thanks in anticipation.

Shalom,

Note: The Cluster requirements for Oracle RAC on all platforms varies from version to version.

You also fail to mention what version of RH you plan to use, which effects the answer to the question.

There is little variation that I am aware of between configuring the 32 bit Cluster suite and the Itanium ia64 based suite.

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-3-Manual/cluster-suite/ch-software.html

http://www.verhoef.com/outlines/RHGFS.htm

RAC
http://www.redhat.com/whitepapers/rha/gfs/Oracle9i_RAC_GFS.pdf

http://www.puschitz.com/InstallingOracle9iRAC.shtml

http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/pdf/rac_install_tips_FINAL_021003.pdf

That should be a start for you.

SEP

RAC generally does not use any other HA cluster SW. It handles its own HA on Linux. This is different than HP-UX where other HA SW like Serviceguard can provide the HA cluster functions. The exception is when you are using a cluster file system like RedHat GFS.

I could be wronng but I don't thinnk GFS is supported on Itanium.

You do not need to have cluster suite or GFS.
For 9i you should use Oracle Cluster manager.
For 10g you should use Oracle Cluster Ready (CRS)
For 10gR2 you should use oracle clusterware.

Oracle provides OCFS (oracle clusterd file system) if you need a CFS. recentely oracle released a new version of OCFS named OCFS2 which can install on 2.6 kernel.
Also 10g and 10gR2 provie you ASm (automatic storage management) for storing datafiles.
