Shalom Ronnie,

It sounds like a hardware problem. Take a peek inside and make sure the drive is properly connected. Then call hardware if it stil does not work.

It should show up on the gui disk browser.

SEP

Hi All,

We have successfully installed Redhat V4 AS Update 2 onto three new DL380 G4 servers. All three servers had Redhat loaded from CD's. However one of the servers once booted no longer sees the CD-ROM drive.

The only difference I can see is that during booting the two servers that see the CD-ROM have the following entry in the boot log.

ide0:BM-DMA at xxxxxxx, BIOS Settings: hda:DMA,hdb:pio

The server that fails to see the CD-ROM when booted has the following entry.

ide0:BM-DMA at xxxxxxx, BIOS Settings: hda:pio, hdb:pio

Can anyone assist me in tracking down the problem.

Ronnie

Can you boot directly from the CD-ROM? This is to check if the hardware device works properly. If you can boot from the CD-ROM, then the hardware is correct, if not, then "software" level troubleshooting should be done.
