      <description>if the server has sata disks,then you can disable smartd since sata does'nt support smartd atm.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SRH</description>

      <description>Best explaination is in &lt;BR /&gt; &lt;BR /&gt;#Man smartd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;but in short, smartd service monitors your hard disk for errors (if your hard disk have are smartd able ... most modern disk are ! beware the disk must also be smartd enable in BIOS).&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;so if the service fails could be you dont have smartd disk or they are not enable in "BIOS" or there is an error in /etc/smartd.conf, But have a look at /var/log/messages this is where error are normaly send ! &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What do you lose is service is not started ... well if your disk is degrading you will not know ...&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Jean-Pierre Huc&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
