error message "call_verify: server requires stronger authentication"

When I looked at the dmesg, it displayed all these errors "nfs_statfs: statfs error = 13
call_verify: server requires stronger authentication."

Does anyone know what this error is all about? Is there a patch for this? I am running RHAS 2.1 kernel 2.4.9-e.3smp #1 SMP

Please help.

Shalom Jorge,

I need to know what you were doing when this happens.

It is well known issue with Windows 2003 Server where it requires a patch to do Kerberos exchange with versions of Kerberos other than Version 5.

Check you Kerberos version and see that its at version 5 if you are working with unpatched Windows 2003 Server or patch the windows box.

This is the best I can do, not having any idea what you were trying to accomplish at the time.

Also note that RHAS 2.1 is out of support and you appear to be on the intitial release and its never been patched.

Sep - Once a day I check the system by typing dmesg to see if I have any real errors by doing so, I noticed this error. This is one of our production servers, therefore, I am not sure which application or protocol causing this error. Yes, the current Linux kernel is out of date, but the next kernel level is not supported by the software vendor at this time. Do you think I might need to bring this linux server close up-to-date as possible? Is this a harmful error? Is there a function that I can turn it off if I am not using this function?
