can anybody tell where I can get the patch for dst for red hat linux 7.x,8.0,9.0,ws3,ws4.
Please suggest the links to download in the form of rpm or some other

This involves an update to:

RHEL 2.1 -> glibc of at least level glibc-2.2.4-32.23

RHEL 3 & 4 -> tzdata of at least level tzdata-2005m-1.EL3 or tzdata-2005m-1.EL4 respectively.

Confirmation of Linux fix

You may test for the presence of the fix by examining the DST settings on the live system. You will run the command:

# zdump -v CST6CDT | grep 2007

On a system without the adjustments you will see:

On a system with the adjustments you will see:

Notice that the April and October dates were changed to March and November.

Changes to Daylight Saving Time affecting IBM SDK for Java on Linux platforms

The changes being made to the Java SDK and Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for time zone adjustments are independent of the changes for the Linux operating system. Make sure that both the operating system fix and the Java fix are applied to ensure that Java applications will handle the DST change successfully. The sequence in which the fixes are applied does not matter.

Note: Although the Linux operating system provides a facility for DST specification, this facility is not used by the Java SDK and JRE. Therefore, a separate DST update is necessary for the Java SDK and JRE.

Confirmation of IBM SDK for Java fix

You can confirm that the version of the IBM SDK for Java on your system contains the DST update by using the IBM Time Zone Update Utility for Java (JTZU) with the DISCOVERONLY value set to true.
