Gaim (new name Pidgin) and CenterICQ have console verions for Yahoo messenger.

i need to run the messenger with the help of existing resource only (RHES_4)

Shalom,

Gaim can authenticate and connect to the yahoo messenger system. I'm currently using it on RHEL 4 and ubuntu.

There is a gaim rpm on your original install disks. This is better than using yahoo's client which is problematic on RHEL.

gaim can also let you message simultanously on aol and a few other messenger systems.

rpm -ivh gam
# if its not installed
rpm -qa | grep gaim
# to check and see if its installed

From the command line:
gaim
In x windows it will pullup the gui game.

Yahoo Instant Messager for Linux requires X windows and won't work in text mode.
