Has anyone sucessfully installed RedHat Linux
4 or 5 on the 6510b notebook.

I have tried to install both 4.4 and 5.0.

Each installed fine but neither the graphics
nor the wireless(itel 4965ABG) works.

I have tried compiling the xorg graphics driver
as described in
intellinuxgraphics.org/download.html

without success.

Are there any drivers for the graphics and
wireless for Redhat on the 6510b ?

Thanks for any help

Rochelle Lauer
Yale University Physics

Are you tied to installing rhel 4 or 5? If not you might try another distro like ubunyu or knoppix. They usually seem to work better out of the box. I am personally a red hat fan myself, but installing one of those distros may save you some time.

Knoppix is a good idea. Just give it a try, even if it's only to see if your graphics card works for linux.

You'll also find out which kernel version you need for a working driver. And you can then copy the xorg.conf to your redhat installation.

Regards,
Arnd

> Yes I am tied to a RedHat (compatible)

I would be a liar if I said that Red Hat didn't have a certain way of doing things, but Linux is Linux regardless of the distro name.
