      <title>HP dc7700p linux ide drivers.</title>

      <description>I have a Gentoo linux box with a 2.4.26 kernel(which i can't upgrade to 2.6 because of another software patches that working only with this kernel) and i do not know how to set DMA for disks.&lt;BR /&gt;When i try :&lt;BR /&gt;hdparm -d1 /dev/hda&lt;BR /&gt;i receive the error &lt;BR /&gt;HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permited.&lt;BR /&gt;I think that the problem is that my kernel not know about hp dc7700 Ide Disk.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;lscpi -v | grep ide&lt;BR /&gt;IDE interface: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 2996 (rev 02)&lt;BR /&gt;IDE interface: Intel Corp.: Unknown device 2820 (rev 02)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;hdparm -tT /dev/hda&lt;BR /&gt;Timing buffered disk reads: 14M in 3.44 seconds = 4.07 MB/sec&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;What can i do ?&lt;BR /&gt;Please help.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>There are workarounds.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;They were so difficult our department refused to support the hardware internally.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Note also that Red Hat Support does not cover systems that are not certified.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Using this system is a bad idea, even if you force it to work.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>
