The best place to start is the DNS-HOWTO.

The best reference that you should have by your side would be O'Reilly's DNS and BIND, 3rd Ed. The ISBN is1-56592-512-2

A good site for addtional references is www.acmebw.com

Another Great Tool I've located is the Webmin tool www.webmin.com

This tool was also outlined in the April 2000 issue of the Linux Magazine.

Included in it is the developemnt of BIND 4 and BIND 8 DNS Servers.
