You need a driver disk with the right module for your disk controller. Then start the installation typing "linux dd" at boot prompt.

The problem will be to find the driver disk if the hardware is not certified for RHEL.

Hi,

You don't say what hardware you're trying to install onto, however it would appear that there is no support for your hardware in the kernel of RedHat that you're trying to load...

Try searching for your hardware on RedHat's hardware compatibility list here:

https://hardware.redhat.com/

That should give you some hints as to what drivers you need...

Hope this helps,

Regards,

Rob

Shalom,

This seems to be a hardware issue. To help, it would be necessary to know what type of hardware you have.

If its a HP server, you may need to prepare the disk prior to install. Watch the boot sequence from a console. There may be an option to configure raid or storage by hitting a function key.

If you provide a model number, I can provide more meaningful help.

SEP

Also, as red hat updates are released, new modules/drivers for devices are added. You should try to install Red Hat Enterprise 4 Update 5 or Red Hat 5. You will have more chances to see the disk device.

Hi,

The drivers page for the DX2200 only lists XP and Vista, so you may be out of luck :-(

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?〈=en&cc=us&pnameOID=1844702&taskId=135&prodTypeId=12454&prodSeriesId=1844701&submit.y=9&submit.x=5〈=en&cc=us

You might be able to get something from AMD's site (they make the Radeon chipset used on the motherboard) however I had a quick look and could only find Linux drivers for the graphics card.

http://ati.amd.com/products/radeonxpress200intel/index.html

Cheers,

Rob

Hello!

Definitely RedHat 9 has a very old kernel and will not see your disk controller.

Using a newer version RH distro you have a chance. Probably most current version of RH Fedora supports your motherboard chipset. Or you can try to use Intel's "Quick Start Kit for Linux" for Intel Desktop Boards

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProductID=2367&DwnldID=11728&strOSs=140&OSFullName=Redhat*%20Desktop%204%20Update%204〈=eng

Regards, Ivan Kuznetsov

Shalom,

I'd say first thing to do is get a modern Linux.

Is there a guarantee that it will have drivers for this hardware? No. You seem to have chosen hardware that is specifically designed to NOT run Linux.

Perhaps a different PC if possible.

Welcome to the ITRC forums.
