Functionally DNS on windows versus linux is th e same. Both work.

Financially if you use a free distribution of Linux you save a lot of money in license fees.

Personally, I almost always recommend using Bind or PowerDNS on Linux (or another UNIX platform), especially if you already have a Linux/UNIX environment in place. However, if you have enough Windows admins who really know their environment the Active Directory integrated DNS can be a viable option for internal-only use.

You need to evaluate your needs, your existing environment, and your ability to support the system.

the best depend by your system enviroment and people that administrator the dns.
Your system: windows, linux, mac ...if you like windows it's very easy to implement; if you like linux you must know dns, command line, ecc...
