Greetings,

I have this new daunting task in the near future by upgrading the server with something more robust. I am looking for options on what I should do besides, installing the new Linux OS, ERP application, and Oracle DB.

Currently installed:
RedHat 2.1 AS (32-bits Intel)
Oracle 9i
ERP Application

** No SAN Storage attach - Only local storage **

Please advise.

Thank you in advance.

Jorge

Hello Jorge,

If the box supports 64-bits Intel OS, opt for this as well.

Thanks

Hi Jorge,

That's a rather vague question, as we know nothing about the hardware of the current server...

Cheers,

Rob

HP all the way. What we have now is this old Dell PowerEdge 4400 server and we were looking at DL380 or rx2600 series.

Thanks,

Jorge

We cannot size your server. What you have to do, is to call a pre-sales man, and he will ask you some information to size your new server. They have tools that requires some imput, as the number of servers, size of the database, type of transactions, and then provides the suggested hardware.
