topic Windows media player acting up on Pavilion 8700 - help needed in Operating System - Linux

I recently started having problems with Windows media player 6.0. It has been working fine for last 2 years but now it plays only MIDI files but freezes up computer when I tried to play WAV, MP3 etc., I downloaded a recent version of player and installed it but the same problem persists. Short of reformatting the hard drive could some one suggest a solution to this problem. Appreciate your help.

Hi,

I'm free but the only answer you may expect on this forum is a suggestion to remove Windows and install linux instead. Xmms should be fine to read wav, mp3 and mplayer would play most movie formats.

Good luck.

Kodjo
