I am not able to get a file from another system.
It always says not a regular file
What should i do?

you're trying to copy a file named ':' ? Escape it (\:).

As usual, it might help to see the actual
command which failed.

My guess would be that the "file" was ".",
which is a directory, "not a regular file".

And what did _you_ say to cause this?

Reveal what you did along with the error
message which was the result.
