    <description>&lt;!--!*#--&gt;Well, here's how a redhat system would do it:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Modify '/etc/security/limits.conf', and add a line similar to:&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;cyrus    -    nofile       10240&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The user ('cyrus') goes in the first column.  There is no 'hard' or 'soft' value for this limit, so the '-'.  The 'nofile' is the number of open files the user can have.  The number is the count.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;For more details on this, read '/usr/share/doc/pam-*/txts/README.pam_limits'.</description>
