Thank you very much for your answers... Finally I got it running.
Now I'm having a problem with another server because it is using the Web Console (there is a RJ45 cable attached to the Web Console port). As far as I know, both console ports (Web Console and Terminal Console) cannot be running at the same time.
How can I disable the Web Console port so I can use the Terminal Port??
Thank you very much in advance...
Joan Bueno

Hello,
I am trying to connect the Console port of an HP_UX Server Class A to the AUX port of a router Cisco 2501, so I can telnet the port 2001 of the router and enter the Console of the HP-UX server.
The aux line of the router has been configured properly like other Remote Console Servers, and in fact, it works when I try to connect to a DB25 Console port...
But the HP Server Class A has a DB9 Console port and I cannot get it working.
I have tried all the combinations of cables and RJ45-DB9 connectors and no way!!
Can you help me with this???
Which cable and connector should I use???
Should I configure anything in the server???

Thank you very much in advance.
Hi,

you'd better post this to the HP-UX forums.

Regards

Joan,

You can connect the two together, but you cannot use telnet to talk to the router.

Telnet is a Network based application used to talk to other devices via the network.

If you do connect the two serial ports together, you will need to you a Serial communications application, such as minicom, kermit, procom ..... to talk to the router via the serial device.

Hope that helps.

Have a Great Day!
Thank you very much for your answer but this is not really what I am doing...
I am using the Cisco 2501 router as a console server, to get this I must connect the AUX port of the Cisco 2501 to the Console port of the HP-UX Server Class A.
Then I can establish a reverse Telnet session and this initiates a Telnet session out of the asynchronous line.
I just issue a Telnet command from a PC connected to the router towards the IP address of the LAN interface of the router directed to port 2001 (2000+n where n is the numbre of the line to which the console is attached, in this case, line is number 1, taht is, the AUX port) and this gives me access to the console.
This works with a DB25 Console port, but it does not work with a DB9 Console port.
Does anybody know which type of cable or DB9-RJ45 connector do I need??

Thanks in advance.
Joan

My mistake Joan, I thought that you were attempting communications the other way around.

Here's some Serial Cabling links:

http://www.uwsg.iu.edu/usail/peripherals/serial/rs232/

They even include references to RJ-45 connectors.ave a Great Day!
