Why do you think a reinstall might be necessary?

According to the package description, it contains only the iSCSI daemon and some utility programs - not kernel modules. So there should be nothing that depends on some exact kernel version.

A requirement to reinstall a package like that on kernel upgrade would not be desired behaviour - it would be tolerated only as a workaround to some known bug. It would be easy to fix, by making the iSCSI daemon startup script detect when a kernel has been upgraded and automatically do whatever is needed at that point.

RedHat Bugzilla has no record of such a bug in the iscsi-initiator-utils package of RHEL 3.

MK
