    <description>Hi Allan&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Please first check&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#ps -ef|grep dt*&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;This is the CDE desktop process must be run&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;if not running start dt from command prompt&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;#/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;the start exceed to login graphically.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BTW which OS u r using?</description>

      <description>First off how are you planning to access the oracle server ? I'll assume you wish a full gnome session in which case by default gdm has xdmcp switched off : &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;see /etc/gdm/gdm.conf ref &lt;A href="http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2002/04/msg00653.html" target="_blank"&gt;http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2002/04/msg00653.html&lt;/A&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;ensure hostname resolution work between server and pc, run exceed and set the connection type to xdmcp broadcast .... is the remore oracle server shown in the list of available hosts ?&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;anything under Exceed -&amp;gt; Trouble-shooting : ie log files ?</description>

      <description>in gdm.conf file locate [xdmcp] section and there enable like this&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Enable=true&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;then restart machine or restart gdm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;gdm-restart&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>
