I need to access a Oracle Linux server from exceed but I am unable to do so for now .

Some of the info that mite help :

#ps -ef|grep gdm

Hi Allan

Please first check

#ps -ef|grep dt*

This is the CDE desktop process must be run

if not running start dt from command prompt

#/sbin/init.d/dtlogin.rc start

the start exceed to login graphically.

BTW which OS u r using?

even now doesn't give me exact version name.

gdm configuration differs from version to version.

First off how are you planning to access the oracle server ? I'll assume you wish a full gnome session in which case by default gdm has xdmcp switched off :

see /etc/gdm/gdm.conf ref http://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2002/04/msg00653.html

ensure hostname resolution work between server and pc, run exceed and set the connection type to xdmcp broadcast .... is the remore oracle server shown in the list of available hosts ?

anything under Exceed -> Trouble-shooting : ie log files ?

in gdm.conf file locate [xdmcp] section and there enable like this

Enable=true

then restart machine or restart gdm

gdm-restart
