Install the new kernel&lt;BR /&gt;2. Run "/opt/hp/hp-lpfc/master.sh -m 2.4.21-53.ELsmp"&lt;BR /&gt;3. Reboot to the new kernel.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Option 2:&lt;BR /&gt;1. Install new kernel&lt;BR /&gt;2. Reboot to the new kernel.&lt;BR /&gt;3. Run "/opt/hp/hp-lpfc/master.sh"&lt;BR /&gt;4.       <title>lpfc module reinstall on new kernel</title>

      <description>here is the plan i have for reinstalling the lpfc module on my RHEL AS 3 U8 system after the kernel upgrade.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;let me know your view on  the plan and any other suggestions are welcome.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;1.Boot in single user mode  with new kernel 2.4.21-53.ELsmp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;2.reinstall the lpfc rpm&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;3.Copy the old /lib/modules/2.4.21-47.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/scsi/lpfcdd.o to the corresponding new kernel &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;location(/lib/modules/2.4.21-53.ELsmp/kernel/drivers/scsi/lpfcdd.o)&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;4.Take a  backup and Edit the /etc/modules.conf and comment the entries for lpfc&lt;BR /&gt;# grep lpfc /etc/modules.conf&lt;BR /&gt;alias scsi_hostadapter1 lpfcdd&lt;BR /&gt;alias scsi_hostadapter2 lpfcdd&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;5.take a backup of the existing img and create a new one.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;mkinitrd /boot/initrd-2.4.21-53.ELsmp.img 2.4.21-53.ELsmp&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;6.revert the changes on /etc/modules.conf&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;7.Reboot to check everything works fine with the 3rd party kernel module</description>
