The correct format would be:

*.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none @<REMOTESERVER>

In <REMOTESERVER> you must add the -r option to the syslog daemon, in Red Hat, modifying the /etc/sysconfig/syslog file, and restarting the service.</REMOTESERVER></REMOTESERVER>

Hi there --

I am in the process of setting up a syslog server, and I would like one of our Linux systems to send a copy of its messages file to the remote syslog server.

My plan is to modify the /etc/syslog.conf file with the following entry:

messages.* @<REMOTE syslog="" server="">

Is this the correct format to use, or is there another method? Thanks.</REMOTE>
