Shalom Maaz,

Check /boot/grub/grub.conf

This kind of switch happens when installing the HP server smart start package, it uses an image file from HP instead of red hat. Usually it makes no difference to systems operation.

SEP

attached menu.lst
The cpq_cciss package has added its own entry in /boot/grub/menu.lst(equivalent to grub.conf in redhat), and also make the entry default.

why cpq_cciss has added its own initrd(HP-initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp.img) ?
what benefits it provide over the initrd(initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp) ?

I have checked both(initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp and HP-initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp.img), and found no difference. When I boot the system with initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp, I can access the SAN without issue .. so why should I boot the system using HP-initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp.img ?

Regards
Maaz

Hi SEP

OS: SLES 10 SP1.

>Check /boot/grub/grub.conf

/boot/grub/menu.lst is attached.
menu.lst is equivalent to grub.conf in redhat.

>This kind of switch happens when installing the HP server smart start >package, it uses an image file from HP instead of red hat.

Yes we have installed the PSP

>Usually it makes no difference to systems operation.
Thats why I am asking this question, i.e why after installing PSP, we got a new/additional initrd(HP-initrd-2.6.16.46-0.12-smp.img)
