Hi,

Summary of my system.

- Redhat Enterprise Linux 4 update 5 64bit
- Hardware dl380 G4 servers

- when i run "top" it says the command gam_server uses 100% of the servers cpu.
- I kill the process and 5 -10 mins the gam_server pops up again.
- I check dmesg and i get the following:
- gam_server[3363]: segfault at 000000000000003c rip 000000000040c61f rsp 0000007fbfffdd70 error4
- Also i get the odd error message "cdrom:open failed". Now Im not quite sure what this means.
-My best bet would be that gam_server is related to gnome somehow. But i dont quite understand what is going on here.
- Can it be hardware problem???
Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
James

Hi,

thanks for your reply. Ive already seen the bugzilla report. But it didnt indicate me a Clear solution for the gam_server. However i managed to stop the gam_server with the following command: kill -STOP {PID} Im not sure if this is a fix but it did stop the gam_server for now. Thanks for the useful links.

Cheers
James
