Your sendmail.mc file has a line that mentions "confAUTO_REBUILD". This is a function that used to make sendmail run the "newaliases" command automatically if it was necessary.

Then someone found out that the confAUTO_REBUILD function could be used maliciously. So the function was removed, and now the confAUTO_REBUILD line in the sendmail.mc file only produces the warning message.

The message is there to alert the sysadmin (=you) that this function has been removed for security reasons and will no longer work automatically as you might expect.

Now you must remember to run the "newaliases" command whenever you edit the /etc/mail/aliases file.

If you have some script that modifies the /etc/mail/aliases, you must modify that script to run the "newaliases" command after it has done its job.

To get rid of the warning message, simply remove the line that mentions confAUTO_REBUILD from your sendmail.mc file.

MK
