I can get a new client if I can get some basic anti-virus checking going on my mail server.

I'd like a tool perferably gnu license that will let me scan the main sendmail mail file and strip out virus's replacing them with a message that the file has been stripped out.

I'd like to be able to update the virus database from public sources as well.

Thanks.

P

I've not heard of a GNU one with a free license, sorry.

We use the Trend Micro product "Interscan Virus Wall" here.. Good product.

With a bit of poking, very stable too.

I'm running Amavis (www.amavis.org) which is managing attachments in mails.
I.E. you can extract with this tool on the sendmail server (through the milter interface) attachments, uncompress them (what ever the compressor is !), and finally give the attachement to another tool : the anti virus software.
The trouble is that you have very few gnu anti virus software. THe only I found is openantivirus (www.openantivirus.org) but signatures files are not up to date !
There's a link on this site :
http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/openantivirus/mini-faq/av-unix_e.txt?rev=HEAD&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

which describe many anti virus products....

hth
Benoit
____________
Ceux qui ne connaissent pas Unix sont condamn??s ?? en inventer une p??le copie.
