Hi

does anyone ever build an install tape (dds) for ubuntu-hppa to install it on a parisc-server (N4000)? I dont have a CD drive for this old server, only a tape drive.

Never done it, but if the tape is built properly with a boot sector and what not, why not?

It might work.

That's the question: How do i build such a tape if all i have is an iso image of a bootable cd?
Can i take the LIF header of a recovery tape and put the image behind it on the tape?

Chicken or the egg, which came first.

I see no way to build the iso image without first installing a system and that requires a cd-rom to do the install.

The system will accommodate such hardware, I'd say go to ebay and see about picking one up.
