i have a couple of questions.

1. I have a 4 Windows DC and a trust relationship exists between them. I want one of the windows DC to have a Samba Backup DC. Is it possible to achieve this with the trust relationship intact?
2. I have a 4 Windows DC and a trust relationship exists between them. I want to migrate one of the windows DC to Samba DC. Is it possible to achieve this with the trust relationship with the other Windows DC intact?

thanks.

1) Samba cannot act as a Windows BDC.

2) You should read the SAMBA 3 HOWTO, there is detailed explanation about Trust Relationships.

Shalom,

Samba is open source, and there is a standard published on http://www.samba.org website.

Samba can act as the primary domain controller.

This assumes no bugs on the mircrosoft side of the house.

Trust relationship should be possible as well between the windows boxes and the Samba PDC.

This is not something however I would try with a production system. Its a lab project.

References:
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/edu/dw-esdd-samba-i.html

http://geeklab.wikidot.com/samba-pdc

SEP
