    <description>Shalom,&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;The tdlp.org link is good. That is how I learned DNS in the first place.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;RHEL5 did do some improvements with regard to chroot file location. Also, not every named.conf feature in DNS with REHL5 works the same way as it did with RHEL4.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Starting out with a good DNS/RHEL4 example is a good way to go.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;SEP</description>

      <description>Hi,&lt;BR /&gt;I am a root user and i want to configure Domain Name Server in RHEL 5.       <description>Install the caching-only name server package, that will install sample files that you can modify to configure a master zone.</description>

      <description>hi,&lt;BR /&gt;thanks for replay. &lt;BR /&gt;After input the command (#rpm -qa| grep bind*) the machine showing all the bind packages but when i'm trying to configure named.conf file the server is not getting any file to configure. &lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;please help me to configure.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;regards.</description>

      <description>As Ivan suggested, install "caching-only"  package - it provides /etc/named.conf template.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;BTW, are you sure that you want  DNS server and not just resolver?</description>

      <description>thanks for replay.&lt;BR /&gt;i ve experienced with RHEL4 but not in RHEL5.&lt;BR /&gt;i've installed all the packages as needed and i've edited all the necessary files but it showing an error when i'm trying to start the named service (#/etc/init.d/named restart). please check the attachemnt for the error and please help me to solve the problem.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;Thanks;&lt;BR /&gt;</description>

      <description>Make sure that bind9 is what you need. Unless you are running a Google contender, you might be better off with simple caching DNS (for instance, dnsmasq, or for heavy hitters, DJBDNS).
